How to Choose the Right Career?

Choosing a right career is very important decision in once life. As it is a decision on which person’s entire life depends. After high school diploma many students have to take this decision.Which stream to choose ?whether to take science, art ,biology or commerce. At this stage students don’t have enough maturity that they could take a wise decision. So they leave this important decision to their parents, teachers or friends without taking care of their own interest. Generally, parents look after the market scenario that what’s the current trend going on? and they suggest the same stream to their children.

Now, Where is a gap? Is it necessary that in streams which are running in current market trend student will perform up to the mark?. May be the mental level or abilities of the student is not up to the level that in future he or she will able to survive in the similar field. Like in today’s scenario Engineering, Management, Medicine etc fields are considered to be the best option for making careers. So every parent wants their child to opt among these streams only, without taking care of their interest, abilities, mental level. A very minimal percentage of students are enjoying their professional life of their own choice.

Following are some of the ways to minimize confusion in taking wise decision for the most crucial step of every one’s life:

As when analytical skills, counting abilities of a person is not up to the mark then he should not opt for fields like banking, marketing research. Here, this short word comprises of few wider terms including Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats. Students should do their SWOT analysis properly that whether the career they are choosing is according to their skill sets or not. If they don’t possess the similar qualities then do they have ability to overcome these weaknesses by practice?

The career you are choosing must have wider opportunities. So if you will not able to succeed in one field then there must be different other fields to opt for. Students should analyse all threats of jobs. Like a job of journalist requires a daring, extrovert, confident personality. A person with low confidence skills cannot go for these type of job. So, one should properly examine that whether they have ability to face all threats involved in the job or not.

With the advent of time, Career Consultancy has gained momentum. It has become a profession now-a-days. When students are at their wit’s end then they can take the help of career consultants. After approaching them, they should view streams from their career perspective and can have right tools which can lead to them to take right decisions. Choosing right career is a hard step which can lead to a person towards success.

The best time to choose a career is during the high school stage. One should choose a career according to his or her talent, interest, confidence and financial resources. Once a person moves a step ahead after choosing their career then it becomes very hard to change and opt other field.

Gone are the days like of ancient times when birth, caste, family decided the career of a person. Now, one has to decide his or her career himself or herself. Parents, superiors, teachers can always support their children. The onus is on them to see that whether students are on right track or not and can make progress in the chosen field of work. So it is necessary to set your priorities such as job efficiency, satisfaction, social culture, professional life, personal life then one should choose the right career after weighing all benefits and ill effects of choosing a particular field. Once the right decision is made then a person can easily do a journey of thousand miles and can achieve their personal and professional goals which can lead to them towards progress, success, prosperity and place.
